Ok so I’ve been here for about a month and I’m still not used to how dark it is. It’s dark for most of the day. The sun isn’t even fully up at 8 am, and will go down fully around 4 pm. That change coming from Hawaii where generally the sun is up for a large amount of the day is just insane. I go to sleep early and wake up late and it’s really affected my circadian rhythm. I think something else that weirds me out is how late people go out. I was going to sleep around 11pm and I heard a lot of people heading out. Not even the timing of that but the weather. It gets RIDICULOUSLY cold out there. Like why would you want to do that to yourself? I guess it’s different for people who live in colder places, but for someone like me who’s basically been freezing for a month now consistently, it doesn’t seem worth the effort to go out and freeze at 11 at night. That’s just my little rant. Also, I have never walked outside in Hawaii at 11 pm at night. Even in a small town I wouldn’t venture out at 11. So even though Copenhagen I think it one of the safest cities in the world, I’m just programmed not to go out when the sun goes down. No, I don’t sleep with a night light, but I guess I just have an unreasonable fear of the night. Some childhood trauma right there that I’m not prepared to deal with I guess. But that’s just something interesting to me that people are OK going out at 11. I’ve dedicated way too much time to this lol.
Here you can see the progression of the sun during the day right now. Copenhagen has been amazing so far but the amount of sunlight the country gets is really messing with me.

The above picture is Copenhagen around 10 am.

The above picture is Copenhagen around 5:30 pm. Yes. 5:30 pm. You did not read that wrong.
